Hello! I'm Raven Quilestino-Olario, a Doctoral Researcher from Köln, Germany.

I'm an early-career scientist (still a newbie) whose interests revolve around marine extreme events, ocean-atmosphere-ice interactions, and Antarctic science — most specially with penguins 🐧 !
Driven by my keenness on such topics, I am now taking my Doctor in Natural Sciences degree at Universität zu Köln under the university's Antarctic working group, where I currently investigate the responses of the Southern Ocean & its sea ice systems with various marine temperature changes from the present and back to the past.

BAS Workshop on Polar Winter Climate and Processes

The British Antarctic Survey organised a workshop, taking place April 2025, and brought together observational, modelling and theoretical polar researchers. Along with other scientists, I was flown to the University of Cambridge, UK to explore and address under-studied Arctic and Antarctic winter processes.

rqolar.io is a personal space patterned after my name: r from Raven, q from Quilestino, and olar.io from a witty amalgamation of Olario and the .io domain (which thankfully fits!).
For early-career researchers, having a personal site like this is a small but meaningful way to grow visibility and connect beyond the usual academic spaces.
